Checkered Floors

Checkered floors are a wonderful Timeless design choice! I love the all the textured, colors & depth a checkered floor can bring. Ilove adding it to small spaces, entry ways & also moody & bold European design.

Now, Before you bite the bullet and buy some pretty tiles… make sure you thought about these first!

Checked floors don’t have to be square I also love a good diamond pattern!

1. Not every tile is exactly the same thickness and size. A "12x12" tile is often not exactly 12 inches. Individual tiles can vary in both size and thickness. These tiny differences can cause big problems during installation.

2. You might not get the colors you want. If you're planning on a checkered pattern or mixing styles, most companies won't have all the colors you need. Since every manufacturer cuts and makes tiles differently, it's a big challenge to find a combination that works for both aesthetics and sizing.

3. Find a good installer to level those uneven tiles. Unless your tiles are from the same product line, they will rarely be perfectly when dry-fitted. Many installers hate leveling tiles of different thicknesses because it messes up the spacing. Make sure you hire someone who has the experience (and patience!) to get the job done.

Unusual Colors & paterns are my favorite!

We mixed brands for this flooring and of course it makes it it difficult
